To stop ENA in Linux (or Windows under Administrative command line prompt)
To start ENA in Windows:
The installation default is for ENA to start as soon as Windows starts. However, you can also start ENA via the Services functionality in the Control Panel. The 3 services are: Entuity; Entuity Database; Entuity Webserver.
- Starting the Entuity service will automatically start the Entuity Database service and Entuity Webserver services. Note, do not set these services to automatic, as doing so will break your installation.
- Once all three services have started, it is advisable to wait 5 minutes for these services to initialize, and then you can log in. Alternatively, check the log to confirm if it has started by navigating to entuity_home/bin/ and running the command starteye. When you see the message Started EYE in state normal in entuity_home/log/systemcontrol.log, all of the core processes have started.
To start ENA in Linux (or Windows under Administrative command line prompt):
- Navigate to entuity_home/bin/ and run the command starteye.
- When you see the message Started EYE in state normal in entuity_home/log/systemcontrol.log, all of the core processes have started. However, the tomcat process needs more time to initialize. Wait for 5 minutes to allow this initialization, and then you are ready to log in.
Note, If you start ENA as a root user, then shut ENA down, then configure as a non-root user, ENA will not be able to start. This is because shared memory objects for view server are still owned by root.
To stop ENA in Windows:
The installation default is for ENA to automatically stop when Windows stops, but it is recommended that you explicitly stop ENA and do not rely on Windows to close ENA down.
- You can stop ENA by stopping the Entuity service in the Control Panel. This will also stop the Entuity Database and Entuity Webserver services.
To stop ENA in Linux (or Windows under Administrative command line prompt):
- Navigate to entuity_home/bin/ and run the command stopeye.
- To confirm the system has completed shutdown, check for the message System stopped in entuity_home/log/systemcontrol.log.
