To create an egress interface rule
To edit an egress interface rule
To delete an egress interface rule
Creating an egress interface rule enables you to set the outbound interface of the selected device with the destination address on the remote device. This is a type of topology override rule.
To create an egress interface rule:
- In the Main Menu, click Administration.
- Click Path Overrides. This opens the Path Overrides page (if you are using ENA v17, this page is called the Application Path Discovery page).
- Under the Egress Interfaces tab, click Add in the bottom left of the browser.
- This opens the Egress Interface window. Enter the display name you want to give the egress interface rule in the Name field.
- Enter a description of the route in the Description field.
- Tick the Enabled box to activate this override rule.
- Enter the numerical priority of this override rule in the Priority field - the higher the number, the higher the priority. If you have defined two override rules that are returning results, SurePath would use the override with the higher priority.
- In the Usage field, click one of the two radio buttons:
- if you want this route to only apply if SurePath cannot identify an outbound interface on the device, click Only use this rule if no egress interface is found on the device.
- if you want SurePath to use this rule instead of the interface discovered from the device, click Use this rule to override the egress interface found on the device.
- Browse for and specify the device(s) to which you will apply the egress interface override in the Defined for the following devices field. You can Add and Remove selected devices, and if you have added more than one device you can Exclude selected devices.
- Browse for and specify the source device context of when to apply the egress interface override in the Applied for the following path sources field. When the override is set, it will only apply when the selected path has this source device. You can Add and Remove selected devices, and if you have added more than one device you can Exclude selected devices.
- Browse for and specify the destination device context of when to apply the egress interface override in the Applied for the following path destinations field. When the override is set, it will only apply when the selected path has this destination device. You can Add and Remove selected devices, and if you have added more than one device you can Exclude selected devices.
- Enter the next hop IP address in the Next Hop IP Address field.
- Tick the Use destination IP Address as the next hop box if you want to use the destination IP address of the path as the next hop.
- Enter the next hop by the device's MAC address in the Next Hop MAC Address field. This is only necessary when the transmission is over a layer 2 technology that uses MAC addresses.
- Enter the outgoing interface in the Output Interface field.
- Click OK to save, otherwise click Cancel.
To edit an egress interface rule:
- Navigate to the Egress Interfaces tab on the Path Overrides (or Application Path Discovery in ENA v17.0) page.
- Select the egress interface rule that you want to edit and click Edit in the bottom left of the browser.
- The Egress Interfaces window will open. When you have made the changes you want, click OK to save, otherwise click Cancel.
To delete an egress interface rule:
- Navigate to the Egress Interfaces tab on the Path Overrides (or Application Path Discovery in ENA v17.0) page.
- Select the egress interface rule that you want to delete and click Delete in the bottom left of the browser.
- A deletion confirmation window will open. Click Yes to confirm or No to cancel.
