To view the Services dashboard
To view details of an individual service
To navigate through different Views, Subviews and services
The Services dashboard displays a summary of all Subviews and services that are directly within the View that the user has selected from Entuity. The table will detail the service's status, name and high-level information (e.g. OK, At least one component is Down, At least one component is Unknown but none are Down, etc). Services will have one of the following statuses:
- OK (green)
- degraded (yellow)
- down (red)
- unknown (grey)
To view the Services dashboard:
- Click Network.
- Click Services. This will open the Services dashboard.
Note, if you only have the All Objects View in Entuity, the Network dashboard and Services dashboard will not be populated. In order to populate these dashboards, you will need to create a View other than the All Objects View.
To view details of an individual service:
- From the Services dashboard, click on the name of the service that you want to look at.
- This will open the summary details page.
- This page is divided into four sections:
- Key Metrics - these are gauges displaying metrics on the service. Click on a Key Metrics gauge to open a chart view of that metric.
- Components - this section lists the components that make up the service, detailing their name and type (e.g. switch device, port, etc). Click on the name of a component to open its summary details page, which displays key metrics and general information for the selected component. From this summary details page, you can also click Open in Entuity to open the selected component's Summary dashboard in Entuity in a new tab.
- General Info - this section provides details on attributes and parameters for the service.
- Annotation - enter notes or annotations for the device here.
To navigate through different Views, Subviews and services:
Applicable for ENA v17.0 P03 upwards
There are two ways to navigate through the different Subviews and services within the selected View:
Drill down
- Navigate to the Services dashboard.
- Click on the name of a Subview in the table to drill down into that Subview. The dashboard will reload, and will now have the selected Subview as its context View.
- Navigate back up the View hierarchy by either clicking on the [parent View] in the link at the top of the dashboard, or by clicking the Back button.
Filter by status
- Navigate to the Services dashboard.
- At the top of the dashboard, you can filter the Subviews and services within the selected View by their status. Subviews and services are filtered together:
- these apply to services by checking to see if they have the filtered status.
- these apply to Subviews by checking to see if any of the services contained within them have the filtered status.
- Click on a filter (one of All Services, OK, Degraded, Down, Unknown) to display the services and Subviews that match that filter. On each filter you will see two numbers:
- the first number is the number of services that fulfill that particular filter, including both direct and indirect members of the current View.
- the second number, which is in brackets, is the number of services that particular filter, only including direct members of the current View. For example, if the OK filter had the numbers 200 (48), this would mean there were 200 services in total that matched the OK filter, and 48 of those were direct members of the current View.
- Click on the table column headings to sort the results as you want. Subviews will be listed above services, though each group will adhere to the sorting specification.
