To configure the BMC TrueSight Operations Management Events server
Entuity compatibility with BMC TrueSight:
Entuity is certified to run on all versions of BMC TrueSight from TSOM 10.x onwards.
Note, this integration relies on BMC Impact Integration Web Services (IIWS).
To configure the BMC TrueSight Operations Management Events server connection:
You can configure Entuity to forward events and incidents to cells on the BMC TrueSight Operations Management Events server:
- In configure, specify the following attributes:
Attribute Description BMC Cell Name TrueSight Operations Management Events server instance to which Entuity will forward events or incidents. An administrator can find the cell name by opening <IIWS HOME>\Tomcat\webapps\imws\WEB-INF\etc\mcell.dir and locating the cell definition, e.g.: cell pncell_entuity gateway.pn_server mc entuity:1828 Web Server Host Name hostname of the server where the BMC Impact Integration Web Services (IIWS) server is located. Web Server Port Number port number used by the BMC Impact Integration Web Services (IIWS) server, by default 9080. Web Service Name name of the web service, by default ImpactManager. - To configure additional servers and cells for incident and event forwarding, go to bem-connections.cfg. Note, you must always use configure to set the default connection.
To configure the BMC TrueSight Operations Management Events server:
This server configuration:
- allows Entuity to forward events and incidents to specific slots.
- adds Entuity collectors.
- adds cancellation and deduplication rules.
- adds cross-context launch.
Forwarded Entuity opening and closing events are not correlated. Forwarded incidents are correlated.
Entuity recommends that you always consult the BMC TrueSight Operations Management documentation when configuring the TrueSight Operations Management server.
To configure the BMC TrueSight Operations Management Events server:
- Ensure the class, rules and collector files are in the appropriate folders on the TrueSight Operations Management Events server. If you have installed BMC TrueSight Operations Management 10.0.00, BMC ProactiveNet Performance Management 9.6.00, 9.5.00 or 9.0.50 with the Extended Repository, then the class, rules and collector files are already available in the correct folders, in which case proceed to step 2 below.
If you have installed BMC ProactiveNet Performance Management 8.6, then you must copy the following class, rules and collector files to the correct folders:
- entuity_home/integ/BEM/server/etc/CELL/kb/classes/eye_event.baroc
to:
MCELL_HOME/etc/<CELL_NAME>/kb/classes - entuity_home/integ/BEM/server/etc/CELL/kb/rules/ eye_integration.mrl
to:
MCELL_HOME/etc/<CELL_NAME>/kb/rules - entuity_home/integ/BEM/server/etc/CELL/kb/collectors/ eye_collector.mrl
to:
MCELL_HOME/etc/<CELL_NAME>/kb/collectors
- MCELL_HOME is the root of the BMC Server Impact Manager.
- <CELL_NAME> is the name of the cell that you are forwarding events to.
- entuity_home/integ/BEM/server/etc/CELL/kb/classes/eye_event.baroc
- Amend:
MCELL_HOME/etc/<CELL_NAME>/kb/classes/.load
to include:
#Integration for Entuity
EYE_EVENT - Update:
MCELL_HOME/etc/<CELL_NAME>/kb/rules/.load
to include:
#Integration for Entuity
eye_integration - Update:
MCELL_HOME/etc/<CELL_NAME>/kb/collectors/.load
to include:
#Integration for Entuity
collector - Open the TrueSight Operations Management Events server Pw command prompt, and from MCELL_HOME/etc/<CELL_NAME>/kb/ run:
mccomp manifest.kb
- Restart <CELL_NAME>.
You only need to run mccomp manifest.kb once after all the files have been copied to their correct locations and the appropriate .load files have been updated. Once the compliation is complete, you can restart the cell.
