To quickly display attributes in a chart
To compare attributes across different objects in the Drop Box
To quickly display attributes in a chart:
In the Drop Box, you can select an object and click Show on Chart to immediately open a chart in a new tab for that object. This is option is only available if the selected object can be charted.
To compare attributes across different objects in the Drop Box:
If there are multiple attributes and multiple objects in your Drop Box, you can compare attributes across objects using the Compare on Chart functionality. This will open a chart in a new tab comparing the selected attribute across the selected objects.
For example, in your Drop Box you might have:
Attribute A on Object X
Attribute B on Object X
Attribute C on Object Y
Attribute D on Object Z.
Here you can compare Attribute A across any combination of Objects X, Y and Z, because Attribute A is present on Object X.
You can compare Attribute C across Objects Y and Z.
In this example you cannot, however, compare Attribute A across Objects Y and Z only, because Attribute A is connected to Object X. Note, if you add an attribute to the Drop Box from the Find Attributes window in the Report Builder page, that attribute will not be connected to a particular object. In this case, you will be able to apply that attribute to any other object in your Drop Box list.
Please see below for examples.
Attributes connected to objects:
- Open the Drop Box. Here we will compare Average Memory Used% on the object r2610, and Average SNMP Response Time on the object c2821.entuity.local.
- Select these two objects in the list and right click to open the Context Menu. Click Compare on Chart.
- You can see that both Average Memory Used% and Average SNMP Response Time are available. We will first compare the attribute Average Memory Used% across the two objects. This attribute is available because it is part of the Average Memory Used% @ r2610 object.
- .The Average Memory Used% chart will open in a new tab, comparing that attribute against both r2610 and c2821.entuity.local.
- If you return to Drop Box, you can also choose to compare Average SNMP Response Time against both r2610 and c2821.entuity.local.
- This chart will then open in a new tab.
Attributes not connected to objects:
You can also drag in attributes that are not connected to objects. This is useful when you want to quickly show on a chart/compare on a chart this attribute against a number of objects. For example, you might drag in an attribute to a Drop Box list and save it. Then, when you want to quickly chart this attribute against a number of devices, you can simply drag the devices into the list as well and use the Show on Chart / Compare on Chart functionality.
- Navigate to the Report Builder page and click in the Value column.
- Click Find Attributes.
- This will open the Find Attributes window. Open the Types section, and then select an attribute. Drag it into the Drop Box.
- When you open the Drop Box, you will see the attribute is present, and is not connected to an object.
