Applicable to Entuity v22.0 upwards
Once you have created your user defined thresholds, you can apply them to applicable managed objects in the Entuity UI.
You can enable user defined thresholds from the new thresholds form, or via the Thresholds dashboard or Thresholds Summary dashlet.
- Navigate to an object that matches the Object Type of the threshold. Note that from the context of a View, you can see all the thresholds that apply to the objects within that View.
- Navigate to its Thresholds dashboard (or a Thresholds Summary dashlet on a custom dashboard).
- In the Thresholds Related To dropdown field, select User Defined.
- From this page, you can edit the threshold value and whether it is enabled. Select the threshold and click Set Override at the top of the dashboard (or via the Overflow Menu or right-click Context Menu). This will open the Set Override form on the right, where you can specify the Value and if the threshold is Enabled.
- Once you have enabled the threshold, when the stream specified in the User Defined Threshold is polled, and if the attribute value matches or exceeds the specified threshold value, then the specified event will be raised.
Note, only numeric user defined thresholds will appear in an object's Thresholds dashboard. This is because it is not possible to override a status (whereas it is possible to override a numerical value). Once enabled from the User Defined Thresholds page, a status threshold will be evaluated against its object.
