To export Entuity data to a separate database
To view the history of a data export job
You can export data from the Entuity database to a specified target database. Both the Entuity and the target database must be the same version of that database.
To export data, you need to create a data export job. With a data export job, you can control what, when and to where data is exported. A data export job specifies:
- datasets to export. A data export job can include one or more dataset definitions.
- View against which the dataset definitions are applied.
- export schedule, e.g. whether an export automatically runs every hour, day or week.
- target database to receive the exported data. The export job definition includes the necessary connection parameters.
- data management of the target database; through Backfill how to handle missing data and through Ageout the amount of data retention.
You must specify each data export job separately.
To export Entuity data to a separate database:
- In the Main Menu, click Administration.
- Click Jobs to open the Jobs page.
- Under the Create New section, click New Job.
- This opens the Data Export Job page. Enter the name of the job in the Name field. Once saved, this name cannot be edited.
- Enter a description of the job to be displayed in the interface in the Description field.
- Specify whether you want to enable the job as well as scheduling it by ticking the Enabled box.
- Specify the View against which the export is to run in the View field. To choose all available Views, select All Views.
- Specify how frequently the export job will run in the Schedule field.
- Specify how far back Entuity should go back to replace missing data in the target database, if a particular job has failed, in the Backfill field. For example, if a data export job is scheduled to run three hourly but fails to run for a day, a backfill value of 2 days would allow the data export job to export the missing data.
- Specify how long data in the target database is to be held before being deleted in the Ageout field.
- Enter the name of the server on which the export database is to be hosted in the Server field.
- Enter the name of the export database in the DB Name field.
- Enter the user account accessing the export database in the User name field.
- Enter the password to the user account in the Password field.
- Select the datasets to be assigned to the data export job in the Datasets fields.
- Specify the details of the job and click Save, or Back to cancel the job creation and return to the Data Export Jobs page.
Note, Entuity's data export is not designed to export from multiple Entuity servers to a single database. Each Entuity server must export to a different database. However, multiple databases can be hosted be the same database server.
To edit a data export job:
- Navigate to the Existing Jobs section of the Jobs page.
- Find the job you want to edit and click Edit.
- This opens the Data Export Job page. Once you have made the changes you want to make click Save, otherwise click Back to cancel.
