To upgrade a license via the command line
To install a new license via the UI
There are two ways in which you can update and install new licenses to Entuity:
- via the command line.
- via the UI.
Entuity licenses require updating on the following occasions:
- installing a new release of Entuity.
- moving Entuity to a new management server.
- changing the license credit allocation above the current maximum limit (otherwise, this allocation can be updated without updating the license).
- adding additional functionality through an upgrade or new modules.
- the current license is about to expire.
-
installing one or more additional polling servers to an existing licensed installation.
Obtain a full license from your Entuity representative. In doing so, you will need to provide the host identifier of that machine. The host identifier associates the Entuity license with the physical footprint of the machine. To discover the host identifier, run hostIdent:
- before installation, by obtaining a copy of hostIdent from your Entuity contact.
- as part of install, install displays the host identifier.
- as part of configure, configure displays the host identifier.
You should copy the full license, by default License.Entuity.CustomerName.hostname.UniqueID.dat, to the entuity_home\etc directory. Then run configure and select this new license.
To upgrade a license via the command line:
- Contact your Entuity representative to provide a new license. Ensure you know the server's host identifier.
- Copy the new license to entuity_home/etc/.
- Shut down Entuity.
- Run configure and browse to the new license from the License File Location screen.
- Restart Entuity.
To install a new license via the UI:
