How do I manually add a custom device to my network?

You can manually add a custom device to your network without using a discovery profile. Click Add Assets at the top of the Managed Assets tab on the Asset Management page (or from the Overflow Menu). 

A custom device is a device that Entuity is not managing, but that you want to represent within Entuity. It is a placeholder device with no IP address, on which no polling takes place, and therefore has the Admin Down status on maps, and so on. However, you can use User Defined REST Polling to conduct polling on custom devices.

The Add Asset form is displayed. This form has the following sections:

• Management Level
• Asset Details
• User Defined Monitoring

Management Level

1. In the Asset Category dropdown field, select Custom Device.
2. Leave the Management Level field as Full (default).
3. The Asset Type dropdown field sets to Custom Device, by default, but from Entuity v21.0 P03 upwards, you can select any user defined device types that you have created from the Device Types tab on the User Defined REST Polling page.

1. Specify the Display Name to be used.

User Defined Monitoring

You can specify the credentials that will be applied to any user defined REST poller that you might create and add the credentials to the device currently being added to management.

1. Click the Credential field to go to the Credential form, where you can either search from a list of shared credential sets, or create a local credential. For more information on credentials, see this section.
2. Click Done on the Credential form to save your changes. Otherwise, click Cancel.

Once you have specified the parameters of the server, click Done to save your changes. Otherwise, click Cancel.
