Streams are the main data gathering mechanism of Entuity's StormWorks architecture, and they define properties of the polling process.
The polled data retention of a stream will depend on the data being collected. The data retention for a given server can be seen in that server's Data Dictionary. The Data Dictionary is rewritten by the Configure process to reflect any custom changes made to the system.
The data retention period for each stream can be configured to best suit your setup. Please contact Entuity support if you would like to change data retention periods for streams, so that the circumstances can be assessed and to avoid performance issues if retention periods are extended too much.
There are instances where you can specify data retention through the UI. These are:
- when defining and customizing user defined attributes or user defined polling components.
- when exporting Entuity data to a separate database, whereby you can specify how long data in the target database is to be held before being deleted.
