To create an SNMP community string or user account
Configuration details to specify when adding the asset to Entuity
Entuity supports hardware monitoring on HP ProLiant Servers and HP Integrity Servers through HP Insight Manager SNMP Agents. To do so, the Entuity collector uses port 161 (which must be open bidirectionally between the Entuity server/agent and the HP ProLiant Server or HP Integrity Server), the HPE iLO4 or HP iLO5 management processor, and an SNMP community string or user account.
Supported devices
- HP ProLiant Servers
- HP Integrity Servers
To create an SNMP community string or user account:
- Log into the the iLO management processor, and based on the iLO version, do the following:
- HPE iLO4: Navigate to Administration > Management.
- HP iLO5 and 6: Navigate to Management > SNMP Settings.
- HP iLO7: Navigate to Settings > Alert and Logging > SNMP Settings.
- For SNMPv3, skip to the next step. Otherwise, for SNMPv1 and SNMPv2c, enter a read-only community string in one of the Read Community fields.
For HPE iLO4, ensure the Agentless Management radio button is selected.
Note, a server reboot might be required if the discovery process doesn't detect core subcomponents. - For SNMPv3, create an SNMP user account:
- On the SNMP Settings tab, scroll to the SNMPv3 Users section, and click New.
- Configure the user account for read-only access, and fill out the following fields, as applicable:
- Security Name
- Authentication Protocol
- Authentication Passphrase
- Privacy Protocol
- Privacy Passphrase
- Click Apply to save your changes.
