To create a monitoring user account
Configuration details to specify when adding the asset to Entuity
Entuity supports hardware monitoring on HP-UX servers through the HP-UX Web-Based Enterprise Management (WBEM) Services/Common Information Model (CIM) implementation. Entuity discovers the enclosure, processors, disks, disk controllers, memory, fans, power supplies, and various environmental sensors on each server. To do so, the Entuity collector uses port 5989 (which must be open bidirectionally between the Entuity server/agent and the CIM server) and a monitoring user account.
Supported devices
- HP 9000 Servers
- HP Integrity Servers
- HP Integrity Superdome Servers
To create a monitoring user account:
-
From the Run dialog on the HP-UX server, verify that the WBEM Assist software is installed.
# wbemassist
-
If the WBEM Assist software is installed, skip to the next step. Otherwise, install the WBEM Assist software.
# swinstall -s /WBEMMgmtBundle
-
Verify that all products of the WBEM Assist software are successfully installed.
# swverify WBEMservices
-
If a successful message is displayed in the output, skip to the next step. Otherwise, check the log files for errors, fix any errors, and then reinstall the product.
For example, to check the log file:# grep -i error /var/adm/sw/swagentlog
-
Once successfully installed, use the cimprovider -l command to confirm that each WBEM module is running and has a status of OK. If not, use the cimprovider -e -m [module-name] command to start the specified module.
# cimprovider -l
# cimprovider -e -m [module-name] -
Create a user account with read and write authorizations on the HP-UX CIM (WBEM) server.
Note, -R in the following example specifies a read authorization.# useradd -m [username] # passwd [password]
# cimauth -a -u [username] -n [namespace] -R
