To specify IP address management settings
The Settings form for IP Address Management sets the global values used in IPAM. In certain cases, you can specify individual network settings, e.g. when setting the Usage Medium and Usage High thresholds in an individual network.
To specify IP address management settings:
- From the IP Address Management page, click Settings from the Main Menu.
- The Settings form will open on the right of the page.
Scanning:
- Specify the Max Scannable IP Range Length from the dropdown field. This specifies the maximum number of IP addresses in a range that a single network can cover, by default 4096 (/20). If there are any networks with an IP range length less than a newly selected value, a warning will be shown. Choose from the following options:
- 64 (IPv4 /26, IPV6 /122)
- 128 (IPv4 /25, IPv6 /121)
- 256 (IPv4 /24, IPv6 /120)
- 512 (IPv4 /23, IPv6 /119)
- 1024 (IPv4 /22, IPv6 /118)
- 2048 (IPv4 /21, IPv6 /117)
- 4096 (IPv4 /20, IPv6 /116)
- 8192 (IPv4 /19, IPv6 /115)
- 16384 (IPv4 /18, IPv6 /114)
- 32768 (IPv4 /17, IPv6 /113)
- 65536 (IPv4 /16, IPv6 /112)
- In the Scan Period (Hours) field, specify the number of hours between scheduled Ping, Reverse DNS, and ARP scans. This must be an integer between 1 and 24, and by default is 2. Note, you can also manually run scans of a network via the Run Scan Now option from the Overflow Menu.
- In the DHCP Server Scan Period (Hours) field, specify the number of hours between scheduled DHCP server scans. This must be an integer between 2 and 48, and by default is 4.
- In the IP Address Active Timeframe (Hours) field, specify the timeframe (in hours) in which a successful scan of an IP address should fall to be considered active, by default 12. I.e., if an IP address was last successfully scanned within the last 12 hours, then the IP address is considered active. This must be an integer between 2 and 72, and must be greater than both scan periods specified above.
Expiry:
- In the History Expiry (Days) field, specify the number of days before history entries are removed from the IP History table. This must be an integer between 1 and 14, by default 7.
Events:
- Specify the Usage Medium (%), which is the % threshold above which the network usage bar in the Networks table will turn yellow. This must be between 1 and 100, by default 50. You can edit this value for individual networks when adding or editing them.
- Specify the Usage High (%), which is the % threshold above which the network usage bar in the Networks table will turn red. You can edit this value for individual networks when adding or editing them.
- Specify whether to enable Usage High Threshold Events. If enabled, an event will be raised when a network's usage % exceeds its usage high value.
- Specify whether to enable DHCP Conflict Events. If enabled, an event will be raised when a network has a conflict with its DHCP server.
