To add a network from a DHCP server scope
To view the IP addresses on a network
IPAM networks are populated by scanning. For help and information on scanning networks, please see this article.
To view my networks:
Navigate to the IP Address Management page and ensure you are on the Networks tab.
This page is divided into two sections:
- on the left, the Network Hierarchy tree.
- on the right, the Networks table.
Network Hierarchy tree:
This hierarchy of networks is arranged based on parent-child relationships, and each network is displayed with the IP range and network name. Zones are the top level in this hierarchy.
If you select an entry in the tree, the Networks table to the right will be filtered to show the children of the selected entry only.
Networks table:
This table provides details of the networks that you have added. By default, all networks are listed (and by default, they are listed in full path order, e.g. network 1, network 2, network 3, child of network 3, network 4. If you select a network in the Network Hierarchy tree to the left, then just the children of that network will be shown in the Networks table.
The table displays the following details for each network:

Zone ID if applicable. This column is hidden if no zones are used. Note:

Role |
role of the network, one of the following:

Description | user-specified description of the network. |
DHCP Server | name of the DHCP server assigned to this network. This entry can be empty, and the column is hidden by default. |
Scans | which scans are being used for this network, if any. |
Active IPs | number of scanned IPs that are active. |
Total IPs | total number of IPs covered by the network range. Column is hidden by default. |
Usage | a bar showing the % of IPs used out of the total allocated (this total being total IPs minus excluded IPs). |
Conflicts |
names of other scopes that conflict with this one. If not empty, this entry will be highlighted red. If there is a conflict, this entry will read 'Does not match any DHCP scope', which is triggered if a network has an IP range that is not present on its DHCP server. This is only applicable if a DHCP server is specified for this network. Please see the section below for more information on conflicts in IPAM. |
Conflict Timestamp | timestamp of the conflict. Column is hidden by default. |
Usage Medium | % threshold value in which the usage will be yellow, by default a global value. Column is hidden by default. |
Usage High | % threshold value in which the usage will be red, by default a global value. Column is hidden by default. |
Parent ID | ID of the parent network, if applicable. Column is hidden by default. |
Children | number of children of the network, if applicable. Column is hidden by default. |
To list in the table only those networks that do not have a parent network, click Show Root Only from the Overflow Menu or right-click Context Menu.
To list in the table only those networks that do not have child networks, click Show Leaf Nodes Only from the Overflow Menu or right-click Context Menu.
To add a network:
You can add a new network and specify its parameters from the IP Address Management page.
- From the Networks tab of the IP Address Management page, click the Add Network button at the top of the page (or via the Overflow Menu or right-click Context Menu).
- The Add Network form will open on the right of the page.
General:
- Specify a network Name that is unique within its own parent-child tree. Networks in other trees (i.e. with other parents) can have the same name.
- Specify a Description for the network.
IP Address Range:
- Specify the network Role from the dropdown field, choosing from one of the following:
- Supernet
- Subnet
- Range
Note, if the network is a parent, it cannot have a lower role than its child. If the network is a child, it cannot have a higher role than its parent.
- Specify an IP Range.
- If the Role is 'Supernet' or 'Subnet', only the format with CIDR or Netmask is allowed, e.g.:
- 192.168.0.0/24
- 192.168.0.0@255.255.255.0
- IPv6 addresses are also supoorted, e.g.:
- 2001:db8::1
- 2001:db8:1-2001:db8:ffff
- 2001:db8:11/24
- 2001:db8::1@ffff:ffff:ffff:ffff:ffff:ffff::
- If a parent is specified for this network, then the type of IP Range must match - IPv4 or IPv6.
- A warning will be shown if the given IP Range overlaps with another existing network. Any conflicts will prevent scanning.
- If the Role is 'Supernet' or 'Subnet', only the format with CIDR or Netmask is allowed, e.g.:
- Specify the Zone used to scan the range. Note, this field is hidden if zones are not used.
Scanning:
- Switch on the Scan if you want to scan the IP range. If switched on the following fields appear:
- Ping - switch on to scan the IP range with ping.
- Reverse DNS - switch on to scan the IP range with reverse DNS.
- ARP - switch on to scan the IP range with ARP.
- DHCP - switch on to scan this IP range with DHCP.
Advanced Settings:
- Select the DHCP Server from the dropdown list. This will be populated by a list of DHCP servers that you have added under the DHCP tab (see below). If selected, the assigned server will be used to check for conflicts for this range.
- Don't Scan Network Address/Broadcast - switch on to skip scanning the network address/broadcast (e.g., .0 and .255). This only applies to Supernet/Subnet address ranges. By default is switched on.
- Usage Threshold Medium - specify the % threshold above which the Usage bar will turn yellow. By default, this is set to the global setting (specified in the IPAM Settings form), which is by default 50%. Note, if both Usage Medium and Usage High are set to 100, then the Usage bar will always be green (OK).
- Usage Threshold High - specify the % threshold above which the Usage bar will turn red, By default, this is set to the global setting (specified in the IPAM Settings form), which is by default 80%. This value must be equal or above to Usage Medium.
Once you have made your choices, click Done in the top right of the form to save your changes, otherwise click Cancel.
Once saved, the network will appear in the Network Hierarchies tree and Networks table.
To add a network from a DHCP server scope:

- From the DHCP Servers tab under the IP Address Management page, select the scope that you wish to add as a network, and click Add Network from Scope at the top of the page (or via the Overflow Menu or right-click Context Menu.
- The DHCP Scopes form will open on the right of the window.
DHCP Scopes:
- Specify a Name for the network that is unique within its own parent-child tree. Networks in other trees (i.e. with other parents) can have the same name.
- Specify a Parent for which this scope would become a child, from the dropdown list of existing network scopes. You can specify None, in which case this scope will not have a parent.
- Specify whether to Create Network for Excluded IP Ranges. This field is only visible if the Scope has an excluded IP range. If switched on, another network will be created where its IP range is set to the excluded IP range, and with the same settings as specified below.
- Specify the network Role from the dropdown field, choosing from one of the following:
- Supernet
- Subnet
- Range
Note, if the network is a parent, it cannot have a lower role than its child. If the network is a child, it cannot have a higher role than its parent.
Scanning:
- Switch on the Scan if you want to scan the IP range. If switched on the following fields appear:
- Ping - switch on to scan the IP range with ping.
- Reverse DNS - switch on to scan the IP range with reverse DNS.
- ARP - switch on to scan the IP range with ARP.
- DHCP - switch on to scan this IP range with DHCP.

Once saved, the network will appear in the Network Hierarchies tree and Networks table under the Networks tab.
To add a child network:
You can also add a new child network to an existing network (which would therefore treat that exisiting network as a parent network). The values of this new child network will be populated with values from its parent.
- From the Networks tab of the IP Address Management page, click the Add Child Network button at the top of the page (or via the Overflow Menu or right-click Context Menu).
- The Add Child Network form will open, which contains the same fields as when adding a network (see above). The name of the parent network is added as a subtitle to this form.
- Complete the fields as to your specification. If applicable, the Zone field is read-only because it is inherited from the parent network. The Scan settings are also inherited from the parent network.

Once you have made your choices, click Done in the top right of the form to save your changes, otherwise click Cancel. Once saved, the network will appear in the Network Hierarchies tree and Networks table.
To import a network:
You can import a network via a .csv file (e.g. from an exported Networks table - please see this article for help and information on exporting tables from Entuity).
- Click the Import Network button at the top of the page (or via the Overflow Menu).
- The Import Networks form will open on the right of the screen.
- Create/Update - when switched on, importing networks will always create new networks, regardless of the networks that you currently have in the Networks table. When switched off, importing networks will only create networks that are missing from the Networks table (i.e. it will not create duplicates, if any).
- Select the .csv file from the Select File field. The available columns are as follows:
Column Description ID ID of the network. Can be used for updating existing IP ranges if 'Update only and create missing networks' is selected. Otherwise, this is used for parent/child relationships, in which case the value should be greater than 0. Name user-specified name of the network. IP Range IP range of the network, must follow IP range formatting. Zone Zone ID if applicable. Leave blank for 'none'. Note:
- a network can only belong to one zone.
- multiple networks with the same IP range can exist within different zones. Consequently, the same IP addresses scanned with different zones will then result as different IP addresses, and subsequently can only be acessed from the corresponding zone/network.
- ARP scans will inherit the zone from its routers.
Role role of the network, one of the following:
- Supernet
- Subnet
- Range
Description user-specified description of the network. DHCP Server name of the DHCP server assigned to this network. This entry can be empty. Scans scans enabled for this network - use comma-separated names, and must be in quotations, e.g. "Ping, Reverse DNS, ARP, DHCP". Leave blank for no scans. Usage Medium usage medium %. Leave blank to use the global default. Usage High usage medium %. Leave blank to use the global default.
Parent ID ID of the parent network, if applicable. Leave blank for no parent.

To view the IP addresses on a network:
From the IP Address Management page, select the network that you wish to view and click Show IP Addresses from the Overflow Menu or right-click Context Menu.

To edit a network:
- Navigate to the IP Address Management page and select the network that you wish to edit.
- Click Edit Network at the top of the page (or via the Overflow Menu or right-click Context Menu).
- The Edit Network form will open on the right of the window. This has the same fields as when adding a network (see above). Make your changes as desired and click Done in the top right to save, otherwise click Cancel.
To delete a network:
- Navigate to the IP Address Management page and select the network that you wish to delete.
- Click Delete Network at the top of the page (or via the Overflow Menu or right-click Context Menu).
- A delete confirmation dialog will open. Deleting a network will also delete any children of the selected network. Click Yes.
Conflicts:
Entuity checks for conflicts every time a network scope is added or modified, and whenever a DHCP server is scanned. If a network has an IP range that is not present on its DHCP server, the 'Does not match any DHCP scope' conflict will be raised and displayed in the IPAM network table. To resolve this conflict, you can modify or delete the conflicting network, or add the scope to the DHCP server (on the server side).
