To suspend or resume a schedule
To manually run a configuration task
You can create, edit, delete, suspend and resume scheduled jobs under the Schedules tab on the Configuration Management page.
To schedule a configuration management task:
- In the Main Menu, click Administration and then click Configuration Management.
- This will open the Device Configuration Management page. Click the Schedules tab, and then click +New at the top of the page or via the Overflow Menu.
- The Schedule Task form will open on the right of the page. Select the task you want to schedule and click Done in the top right.
- An Edit Schedule: [task] form will then open, where you can edit the schedule.
- Enter a description for the task in the Description field.
- If applicable, select the Server from the dropdown field. Note, this field has been removed from Entuity v22.0, v21.0 P05 and v20.0 P10 upwards. To create a schedule on a remote polling server from a consolidation server on these versions upwards, you will need to first select the intended remote server from the server selection dropdown field in the top left of the Schedule tab, and then follow these instructions.
- Specify the View with which the target device is associated on your network.
- Select the target Device or port against which you want to run the task. From Entuity v20.0 upwards, only the devices that are licensed for configuration management will appear in this list.
- Click the Schedule field to open the Schedule form, from which you can choose to run a Predefined Schedule or a New Schedule, and define the schedule. Specify when to start the schedule, and specify its Recurrence.
- Click OK to save the schedule, otherwise click Cancel.
To view schedules:
- Navigate to the Schedules tab under the Device Configuration Management page.
- The table lists all your schedules, detailing the following information:
Column Name Column Description Task task schedule name. Description description. Schedule details of the schedule. Server name of the Entuity server on which the schedule is defined. Target target device against which the task is scheduled. Last Run Time date and time the schedule was last run. Next Run Time date and time the job is next scheduled to run. Last Run Status status of the last execution - Completed, Running, or Suspended.
To edit a schedule:
Note, as a result of changes made in Entuity v22.0, v21.0 P05 and v20.0 P10 (see step 6 in 'To schedule a configuration management task' above), any schedules previously created from the consoldation server for a remote polling server (i.e. using the Server field in the Edit Schedule: [schedule] form) will continue to work, but you will be unable to edit them. Instead, you will need to delete the schedule and recreate it.
- Navigate to the Schedules tab under the Device Configuration Management page.
- Select your preferred schedule to edit and click Edit at the top of the page, or via the Overflow Menu or right-click Context Menu.
- The Schedule Task form will open on the right of the page, where you can edit the schedule.
- Make the changes you want to make and click OK to save, otherwise click Cancel.
To suspend or resume a schedule:
- Navigate to the Schedules tab under the Device Configuration Management page.
- Select your preferred schedule to suspend/resume and click Suspend or Resume as appropriate at the top of the page, or via the Overflow Menu or right-click Context Menu.
To delete a schedule:
- Navigate to the Schedules tab under the Device Configuration Management page.
- Select your preferred schedule to delete and click Delete as appropriate at the top of the page, or via the Overflow Menu or right-click Context Menu.
- A deletion confirmation window will appear. Click Yes.
Viewing an expired schedule:
When you view an schedule that has expired, a warning message will appear stating that the expired schedule cannot be edited. Click OK to close the message and view the schedule. You can view it, but the options will be grayed out.
To manually run a configuration task:
You can manually run a configuration task from the right click Context Menu of a View, device or port. In the below example, the 'Microsens Test' is a custom configuration task that can be run from the Context Menu.
From the Context Menu, you can access a number of configuration management and monitoring tasks and functionality.
Note, from Entuity v22.0 upwards, a device can either have one or two configuration files (i.e., just a 'configuration file', or a 'startup configuration file' and a 'running configuration file'). If you are using an earlier version of Entuity, devices will only have two configuration files (startup and running). Please see this article for further help and information on this.
For devices/managed objects:
Monitoring Settings | opens the Configuration Monitor Settings form, from where you can edit the configuration monitor settings for the selected device. |
Check Configuration Now | manually retrieve the latest configuration - running/startup (pre-Entuity v22.0), or singular or running/startup (Entuity v22.0 upwards) - from the device, and if it is different to the currently recorded version, it will update the device's Device Configurations dashlet table with the new file. If the number of configuration files in the table exceeds the specified Number of Archives listed in the device's Configuration Monitor Settings dashlet, the table will remove the oldest of these configuration files from the table. |
Add SNMP community string | adds the specified read-only community string to a device. |
Copy running config to startup config | copies the running configuration to the startup configuration. Only available if the device has two configuration files. |
Delete SNMP community string | deletes the specified community string from a device. |
Retrieve Configurations (Cisco/Dell/Demo Appliance/HP/Huawei/Juniper) | retrieves configurations for the specified device type. |
Set sysContact | sets the system contact on a device. |
[custom configuration task, if added to the Context Menu] | runs the custom configuration task (in the above example, this is Microsens Test' |
For device configurations:
View Configuration | opens a new browser page displaying the configuration file. Only available if the device has a single configuration file. |
Compare Running and Startup | opens the Compare Configuration Files page, which displays the startup and running configurations based on the single file you have selected. Only available if the device has two configuration files. |
View Running Configuration | opens a new browser page displaying the running configuration file. Only available if the device has two configuration files. |
View Startup Configuration | opens a new browser page displaying the startup configuration file. Only available if the device has two configuration files. |
Download Config | downloads a .txt file of the configuration for the selected device. Only available if the device has a single configuration file. |
Download Running Config | downloads a .txt file of the running configuration for the selected device. Only available if the device has two configuration files. |
Download Startup Config | downloads a .txt file of the startup configuration for the selected device. Only available if the device has two configuration files. |
Favorite On/Off | specify if this configuration is to be a favorite. |
Edit Annotation | add/edit an annotation for the configuration. |
