- Ensure the following Entuity health-related incidents are enabled and triggering an appropriate notification (email/Teams/Slack/SMS).
- Entuity License on Remote Server Problem incident.
- Entuity License Problem incident.
- Entuity Remote Subsystem Error incident.
- Entuity Server Automated Shutdown incident.
- Entuity Server Component Problem incident.
- Entuity Server Component Restarting After Failure incident.
- Entuity Server Database Backup incident.
- Entuity Server Disk Space Alert incident.
- Entuity Server Explicit Shutdown Initiated incident.
- Entuity Server Internal Event incident.
- Entuity Server License Alert incident.
- Entuity Server Permanent Component Failure incident.
- Entuity Server Shutdown Forced by Critical Failure to Restart incident.
- Periodically check the System Information page for any warnings of critical statuses.
- Process Health page shows the overall health of Entuity processes. Check if any processes are failing or experience frequent restarts.
- Reports Health page displays the overall health of Entuity reporting. Check for any failed reports or excessive delay to starting a scheduled report.
- License Health page displays a detailed breakdown of your current Entuity license. Check on validity of the license and available license count.
- Database Health page displays metrics that tell you the health and performance of the database. Check for large number of slow queries and a higher than expected number of open connections.
- Data Export Health page displays a summary of overall data export performance. Check if nay jobs are failing or experience delays.
- Flow Collector Health page displays detailed statistics on the flow data performance and data loss of flow collectors. Check if packets/flows are being dropped.
- Events Health page displays details about the performance of the Event Management System. Check if the resource usage is exceeding the set limits and for any failing rules.
- Periodically run the following reports to cover the last 30 days. You can have these reports scheduled and sent by email.
- Entuity Server Health Summary - this report includes Process Health, License Health and Database Health.
- License Audit - this report covers License Health.
- Polling Diagnostics - this report provides analysis of stream job timings. Check for overrun streams that may require extending processing resources for those specific streams. Confirm with Support before making any changes.
- Process Diagnostics - this report provides analysis of Entuity individual processes performance statistics. Check this report if the server is experiencing high resource usage (CPU/Memory/Disk).
- Onboard Entuity servers to monitor resources, services and application availability, and set suitable thresholds to raise appropriate incidents and notifications.
- Disable Entuity modules that are no longer required (i.e. Cisco Unified Communications Manager).
- Run swmaint every 6 months to remove inconsistencies, stale objects, incidents and events whose objects have been deleted, and optimize tables.
Please find below a general example to delete stale objects older than 7 days. Before running swmaint, confer with Entuity Support.
- Perform a backup of Entuity.
- While only the Entuity Database running, from 'entuity_home\bin' run 'swmaint -d 7 -r'
- This may take some time to finish. Stopping/interrupting it may corrupt the database.
- When done, a summary of deleted objects count is presented.
