To add a Device Configurations Summary dashlet to a custom dashboard

The Device Configurations Summary dashlet shows you a summary list of device configurations settings for all devices in a View or Subview.
The Device Configurations Summary dashlet is only applicable to Views and Subviews. It is not applicable to any other data source (e.g. devices, services, components etc).
To add a Device Configurations Summary dashlet to a custom dashboard:
- Navigate to the custom dashboard for which you want to create the dashlet, or create a new dashboard.
- Click Add Dashlet. In the Select Dashlet Type form, select Device Configurations Summary and click Next.
- The Create Dashlet form will slide in on the right.
- Enter a name for your dashlet in the Name field.
- You can then choose the source of the data to be displayed in the dashlet. Note, the Device Configurations Summary dashlet can only display data where the source is a View or Subview.
- If you want this dashlet to source its data from the context of its parent dashboard, select Dashboard. You can see the context of the parent dashboard in the Dashboard Context field at the top of the form.
- If you want this dashlet to source its data from another dashlet in this current dashboard, select Dashlet.
- If you want this dashlet to source its data from a specific View/Subview on your network, select Fixed Object. You can then click Browse to an object to search for the View/Subview in Explorer, or drag into the box your desired View/Subview in from another browser window.
- Click the Advanced Settings field to open the Advanced Settings form.
- Choose whether you want to hide the title of the dashlet in the Hide Title Bar field. If selected, the dashlet's Overflow Menu will also be hidden, but in the Promote Menu Options field you can then choose if you want to display the options in the dashlet's Overflow Menu in the overall dashboard's Overflow Menu.
- Choose whether you want the dashlet to automatically refresh in the Auto Refresh field.
- Click Done in the top right of the form to save and return to the Create Dashlet form, otherwise click Cancel.
- Click Done in the top right of the form, otherwise click Cancel.

Retrieval Task | name of the retrieval task. |
Policy Rules | name of the policy rules file applied by the task to the retrieved configurations. It specifies the good configurations that should be included and the bad configurations that should be excluded. |
Nightly Retrieval | whether the retrieval of configurations is scheduled on or off. |
Transfer Method | transfer method used by the task, e.g. TFTP, FTP, SCP, or RCP. |
Exclude File | name of the exclude file applied by the task to retrieved configurations. It specifies configuration patterns that can be safely ignored when non-trivial configuration changes are found. |
Archives | number of versions of the device configuration files in the Archive folder. The default is 4. |
Change Based Retrieval | whether Entuity is allowed to check for changes in either the startup or running configuration files time. |
To view configuration settings for a device:
- You can view the configuration settings in the dashlet table.
- To view further details, click on the device name in the Name column. This will take you to the Configuration Management dashboard for the selected device.
To edit configuration settings for a device:
- Select a device in the dashlet table and click Edit Settings at the top right of the dashlet (or via the Overflow Menu or right-click Context Menu). To select multiple devices, hold Ctrl or Shift and select the devices you want to edit, and then click Edit. The Configuration Monitor Settings form will slide in on the right.
- Select the task used to retrieve configurations from the device in the Retrieval Task field. Out of the box, Entuity supports configuration retrieval of Cisco, Dell, HP, Huawei and Juniper devices.
- Choose which transfer method you want to use for retrieval of configuration files, from TFTP, FTP, SCP and RCP in the Transfer Method field.
- Choose if you want to allow Entuity to check for changes in either the startup or running configuration files time in the Change Based Retrieval field.
- Enter the file you want to use for policy rules in the Policy Rules.
- Enter the file that identifies the configuration patterns that can be safely ignored when non-trivial configuration changes are found in the Exclude Files field.
- Choose if you want to enable scheduled retrieval in the Nightly Retrieval field.
- Specify the number of versions of device configuration files to be held in the Archive folder in the # of Archives field. By default, this is set to 4.
- Click Done in the top right of the form, otherwise click Cancel.
